London/Munich (February 4): Bill Stephens, Daniel Baur and Oliver Simon, partners in K5 International, the worldwide sales and distribution company based in Germany and the UK, announced today that they have secured international rights outside North America to Joshua Goldin’s first feature WONDERFUL WORLD, starring Matthew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan.
A comic fable about the most negative man in the world, WONDERFUL WORLD is produced by Miranda Bailey, Matt Leutwyler and Glenn Williamson for Ambush Entertainment and Back Lot Pictures, and is about to finish principal photography in Louisiana.
"Ambush is very excited to have Bill Stephens, Daniel Baur, Oliver Simon and K-5 on board,"
Commented Ambush’s Miranda Bailey and Matt Leutwyler.
Could fish really fall from the sky? Ben Singer (Broderick), the world’s most negative man, refuses to believe even the tiniest miracle is possible. He spends all his time fighting the corporate super organism, otherwise known as "The Man.” That fight becomes more personal when visions of "The Man” start to visit him in his small one bedroom apartment. When his roommate, Ibou, falls ill, Ben is forced to host his Senegalese sister, Khadi (Lathan). What starts as an awkward living arrangement soon turns into something more, and Ben's usual self-destructive nature gives way as he begins to find inspiration in the most unlikely of places.
Matthew Broderick is best known for films such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Producers, and Election. Having been in You Can Count on Me, he has just finished working again with director Kenneth Lonergan on Margaret opposite Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo and Jean Reno. Sanaa Lathan recently appeared in Nip/Tuck and has a starring role in ABC's adaptation of the 2004 Broadway production of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, for which she received a Tony nomination.
