I never seek death, but I don’t mind the idea of dying on the mountains. It would be an easy death for me. After all that I’ve experienced, I’m familiar with it. And most of my friends are there in the mountains, waiting for me. - Polish extreme mountaineer Wanda Rutkiewicz was one of the leading women in alpine sports since the 1970s. She was the first European and the third woman in the world to reach the highest peak on earth, Mount Everest, in 1978.
She had successfully climbed a total of eight of the 14 eight-thousanders. In 1992 she did not return from the Kangchenjunga.
Her story is one of passion, ambition, and perseverance.
